This post is actually inspired by a good friend of mine1 by a good laugh over pizza. Upon being asked about this picture, his comment for a caption was “This is how it feels being a demigod”. I’m not gonna rant about this is right or wrong, but about what sparked my mind.
So, first, let’s clear up the definition of the word “demigod”, which the Oxford Dictionary2 defines as this:
A being with partial or lesser divine status, such as a minor deity, the offspring of a god and a mortal, or a mortal raised to divine rank.
Well, to be honest, I really like that first part “a being with partial or lesser divine status”. It makes me rethink again about what I’ve found in the Divine Principle, that among all the beings of the universe, the human beings stand above all. This is not just because of outperforming intellectually all the other beings, or because of other types of superiority. But the real reason is that human beings are created as such to be above all. Being created as the children of the Creator, aka, God, as the vessel that God uses to enjoy and experience joy through creation, surely makes us demigods. As demigods, or as children of God (consider as you want), this surely can make anyone seem proud, but important is to keep in mind (just like my friend) to be a honest, kind, righteous person and properly exercise the power that comes with this.
And keeping that in mind, take another look at the picture and see a nice chubby demigod enjoying a nice slice of pizza!
